The voice of the energy industry

Energy UK responds to news of Government investment in energy efficiency measures

Responding to news of Government investment in energy efficiency measures, Energy UK’s chief executive Emma Pinchbeck said:

“The Chancellor has listened to businesses, including the energy industry, by making moves to secure a Green Recovery.

“Energy efficiency measures are an essential part of this, as we outlined in our recent report, and can generate widespread economic, environmental and societal benefits  as part of a sustainable recovery focussed on the net-zero target. Improving the UK’s poor quality buildings will benefit communities in many ways – making them healthier, cheaper to run while also creating local jobs.

“£3 billion is a good start and we look forward to seeing how the Government will meet the rest of the energy efficiency spending commitments outlined in their manifesto. We need to build on this momentum and look forward to working in partnership with Government as the energy industry stands ready to build further on the £14 billion it already invests every year. We need to give both the economic recovery and the climate crisis everything we’ve got.”
