Energy UK comments on the suspension of the Wylfa nuclear power project
Commenting on the announcement that the Wylfa nuclear power project has been suspended, Energy UK’s chief executive, Lawrence Slade said:
“It is disappointing to hear that work has been suspended at the Wylfa new-build nuclear project. The UK’s ongoing transition to a low carbon energy system will require a balanced and diverse generation mix where different technologies each have an important role to play.
“It is important that low carbon, secure sources of generation, such as nuclear, can get the necessary investment to enable them to help meet the energy needs of consumers and our country over the coming decades. Therefore we urge the Government to continue to work with the energy industry and investors to ensure projects like this can go ahead.”
