Women in Energy

International Women's Day 2021

Building on Energy UK’s work on Equality and Diversity and our ‘Women in Energy’ videos to celebrate International Women’s Day 2019, we wanted to do something special to mark the day again this year. The theme for International Women’s Day 2021 is ‘Choose to Challenge’ – a brilliant call to action following a difficult year for many people, especially women who have found themselves juggling multiple roles and responsibilities at home and at work.

At Energy UK, we are challenging the idea that the industry is not a place for women. We set about trying to create a video to highlight women in the sector and their broad range of roles and expertise because we want to show how our sector has changed and why it is a great place for women to be.
So, we approached women in energy to answer the following questions:

1.    Tell us about your role in energy and what you enjoy about it.
2.    How do you think the sector is changing and why is it a great place to work for women?

Find out what they had to say in these videos:

The response from women in energy has been fantastic, with nearly 30 putting themselves forward to highlight their experiences of working in the energy sector.
Energy UK would like to thank all contributors for taking the time to participate in this project during ever-challenging times.

Celebrating women in energy in 2019

Following the launch of Energy UK’s Equality and Diversity Forum in 2018, and some great events and workshops over the past year, we wanted to do something special to mark International Women’s Day this year.

We felt it was important to highlight the multitude of roles and opportunities for women in the energy industry. So, who better to speak to, than the women already working in the sector.

The response we received was phenomenal, with over 50 women coming to London to contribute and share what they enjoy about working in energy, and what advice they would give to others.
